At the Letter to a Dead Friend-exhibition held at the Fumetto Festival in March 2001, visitors were encouraged to write their own letter to a dead friend. Here is a selection from over 100 letters which were left in a post box at that occasion.

Dear Mercury, Freddy, Sir!
As a human being you had one of the most beautiful voices of all
rock/pop musicians. Is it very important for one to have a body in order
to give character to the voice resp. to the singing?
(p.s.: I do not quite believe that you were gay, I mean,
that you played around with other males' pipes.)
Bye
